Potters pound Huskies
EAST LIVERPOOL — East Liverpool’s boys basketball team got back on track after a nine-day layoff with a 62-43 win over Harrison Central on Monday.
East Liverpool moved to 10-2 and will host Indian Creek today before playing five straight away from home.
The Potters were led by Nate Birch’s 23 points, while Cohen Pease added 15 points.
The Potters also beat Harrison Central 58-35 on Dec. 12.
East Liverpool has played just three times since Dec. 27.
The Potters won the jayvee game 38-30.
Dre’Keim Abercrombie had 10 points for the winners.

YOUNGSTOWN — Bella Poppelriter had 27 points and 16 rebounds as Wellsville steamed past Valley Christian 38-21 on Monday in Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference play.
Wellsville is 7-7 and 6-3 in the EOAC.
Myleigh Jackson had eight points, 12 rebounds and four assists for the Tigers.
Wellsville is at East Palestine today as part of a boy-girl doubleheader.

SALINEVILLE — Allyssa Shroades had 20 points, seven steals, three assists and three rebounds in Southern’s 52-18 win over Leetonia on Tuesday.
Makenna Jones added seven points, five rebounds and four steals for the winners, 11-5 and 7-2 in the EOAC. Haylee Kellogg chipped in five points, nine rebounds and three steals. Lidia Spahlinger had four points and six rebounds. Maddy Jones added eight boards. Rylee Digman had four steals.
Southern is at Columbiana on Thursday for a 6 p.m. varsity only start.
Leetonia fell to 1-10 and 0-7.

United 32, Lisbon 19
HANOVERTON — A pair of United freshmen jumped to the front of the line Monday.
Reagan Good and Maelee Smith combined for 25 points and 24 rebounds at the Golden Eagles topped Lisbon, 32-19, in Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference play.
Good totaled 13 points, 13 rebounds and four steals and Smith collected 12 points, 11 rebounds and three steals.
United improves to 8-7 overall and 8-1 in the EOAC, one game behind Columbiana.
Lisbon lost its eighth in a row to fall to 3-12 and 2-7 in league play.
United took a 20-0 lead, including nine points from Good, in the opening 12 1/2 minutes. Lisbon made three free throws in the final 2:32 of the second quarter to make it 22-3 at halftime.
The Blue Devils shot 0-of-23 from the field in the first half with 23 turnovers.
United led 29-9 through three quarters, although Lisbon pulled closer after Jayden Smyth hit a trio of three-pointers in the four quarter. Smyth finished with a game-high 14 points.
United also won the two-quarter junior varsity game, 17-8. Atlee Brinker and Maezie French each scored four points for the Eagles. Sofia Brown had five points for the Blue Devils.
United will host Sandy Valley on Wednesday, while Lisbon entertains East Palestine on Thursday.
