Area wrestlers still in the fight for OVAC titles
WHEELING, W.Va. — The area produced 11 quarterfinal winners on Friday night at the 71st annual Ron Mauck Ohio Valley Athletic Conference Wrestling Tournament at Wesbanco Arena.
Oak Glen led the way with five championship semifinalists including Aiden Anderson (113), Wyatt Wolanski (132), Hayden Lamb (144) and Noah Schmidt (285).
Beaver Local has three semifinalists including Justuce Fisher (106), Bobby Buchheit (138) and Jake Hughes (150). Beaver Local still holds a slim lead over the Golden Bears in Class 4A.
East Liverpool’s Kyle Ingram (106) and Tristan Eckles (120) are also semifinalists.
Southern’s Johnny Bailey (190) also broke through into the semifinals.
Championship semifinals and consolations will continue at 11 a.m. Saturday. Finals and placement matches will be held beginning with a ceremony at 3:30 p.m.
