Oak Glen celebrates first win
MILL CREEK, W.Va. — Oak Glen sophomore Josh Maher was an unlikely hero Friday night.
Maher, taking the lead role after Devan Juszczak was ejected early in the game, ran for 202 yards and three touchdowns on 10 carries in Oak Glen’s 44-8 win over Tygarts Valley.
Oak Glen finishes the season at 1-9 and snapped a 14-game losing streak. Tygarts Valley ended at 2-8.
The Golden Bears scored two touchdowns in each of the first three quarters, highlighted by Maher’s 83-yard dash to start the third quarter.
Evan Clouston added 73 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries and Greg Sauers had 34 yards and a touchdown on six carries.
Sam Wright was 2-of-3 on extra-point kicks.
Glen Adams completed two of four passes for 47 yards, both completions to Maher.
The Golden Bears had 356 total yards to Tygarts Valley’s 102 yards.
Oak Glen ran 36 times for 309 yards and held Tygarts Valley to 25 yards on 26 rushes. Tygarts Valley was 7-of-15 passing for 77 yards.
Leaders for the Oak Glen defense were Christian Chappell with 13 tackles, including nine solos, Cayden Richie with an interception and Lucas Zoellers with a fumble recovery.
