Down 18, Potters find a way
CAMBRIDGE — East Liverpool’s girls basketball team gave the Cambridge Bobcats a huge headstart on Tuesday, but the Potters found a way back.
Cambridge scored the first 18 points of the game, but East Liverpool came back to take the lead in the second half and turn in a 35-32 win.
The Potters got on the board with three seconds left in the first quarter with two free throws to make it 18-2. East Liverpool did not score its first field goal until 7:16 of the second quarter, but still managed to get back in the game into halftime down 21-16.
East Liverpool took a 27-25 lead heading into the fourth quarter and Cambridge came within one point of the Potters late, but could get no closer.
East Liverpool won the jayvee game, 31-10.
East Liverpool (1-2) will travel to Beaver Local on Monday.

WELLSVILLE — Beaver Local captured its first win of the season with a 44-28 victory over Wellsville on Tuesday in girls basketball action.
Tori Druschel led the Beavers with 11 points, while Lora Reeder and Ally Wright had eight points each.
For Wellsville, Bella Poppelriter had 17 points and 12 rebounds, while Myleigh Jackson had six points, nine rebounds, four assists and three steals. Johnnie Tice and Kenzie Bosco had six rebounds each.
Beaver Local (1-1) will host East Liverpool on Monday. Wellsville (0-1) hosts Edison on Monday.
