State-ranked East Liverpool sweeps Indian Creek

EAST LIVERPOOL — State-ranked East Liverpool swept Indian Creek, 25-14, 25-9, 25-14, Thursday.

Sophomore Kenzie Headley had one of her best matches for the Potters, totaling five aces, four kills and five blocks.

Dalani Ice collected four aces and 13 assists, Kamryn Yanni five aces, Kyia White two aces and 12 kills, Kenzie Walker two aces and six kills, Ayla Brown two aces, two kills and two blocks, Faith Grafton one ace, three assists and 14 dig, and Ava Green two kills.

The Potters improve to 12-0 and will play at South Range on Saturday beginning with the freshman match at 10 a.m.

East Liverpool also won the junior varsity match, 25-16, 25-8. For the Potters, Gracie Murrey had four kills and 16 assists and Peyton Vulgamore and Lauren Porter each had seven kills.

The Potters made it a sweep by winning the freshman match, 25-24, 25-14. Ella Ludwig had three aces and 14 assists and Presley Jones and Lanease Andrews each had five kills.

Beaver 3, Oak Glen 2

CALCUTTA — There is hope for the Beaver Local volleyball team.

The Beavers dropped Oak Glen, 25-18, 20-25, 18-25, 25-13, 15-13, Thursday in a Hometown Hope Match that raised money for Jon Stewart, father of Beaver Local middle school volleyball player Aubrey Stewart.

Peyton Roberts totaled nine aces, 15 kills, four blocks and 13 digs and Briar Wolski 13 kills and 19 digs for the Beavers. Aleia Evanko added eight kills and 22 assists and Emma Joseph 15 assists. Jacquelyn Campbell had 14 digs and Chloe Reed 13 digs.

For Oak Glen, Ashlyn Six had 25 kills, McKenzi Martin 10 kills, Jersey Smith 40 assists, Reecelyn Craig five kills and Addison Smith 14 digs.

Beaver Local also won the junior varsity match, 24-26, 25-14, and 27-25. Joslin Rhodes had 24 points and 15 digs and Sydney McNear had 14 points and seven kills for the Beavers. Adison Ketchum added five kills and 11 digs and Ady Hurst dfive kills.

For Oak Glen, Kendra Lacey had 10 kills, Sarah Robinson six kills, Bailey Ash 10 digs and Kensington McConnachie 18 assists.

Southern Local 3, Leetonia 0

SALINEVILLE — The Southern Local Indians volleyball team improves to 11-3 on the season after beating Leetonia 25-5, 25-3, 25-8 Thursday.

For the Indians, Kya McCulley had 29 points. Rylee Mellott had 20 assists. Aleah Bach had 13 points and three kills. Esther Forbes had three kills. Olivia Kerns had three blocks.

Southern Local also won the jayvee match 25-7, 25-8.

For the Indians, Gianna Pecorelli had 11 points and Cheyenne Buzzard had nine points.

Southern Local will travel to play Columbiana Tuesday.

Wellsville 3, Valley Christian 0

WELLSVILLE — The Wellsville Tigers volleyball team beat Valley Christian 25-9, 25-6, 25-5 on Thursday.

For the Tigers (12-1, 9-0 in EOAC), Presly Stokes had 16 assists, 10 aces and six kills. Alana Amato had 11 kills and nine aces. Bella Poppelriter had eight kills, eight assists and six aces. Aubrey Ramsey had 10 digs, six aces and four assists. Myleigh Jackson had five kills. Brooke Hackney had two kills and two aces.

Wellsville will host Edison on Saturday.

United 3, Lisbon 1

HANOVERTON — United got the best of Lisbon, 25-19, 18-25, 25-16, 25-17, in Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference play Thursday.

Leaders for the Eagles were Olivia Grubb with three aces, 29 assists and 11 digs, Zoee Smith 14 kills and 21 digs and Taylor Cope 10 kills.

The Eagles improve to 8-7 overall and 7-3 in league play.

United also won the junior varsity match, 24-26, 25-20, 25-11, behind kills leader Aurianna Cusick.

The Eagles will host Rootstown on Monday.
