Potters shutdown by Wheeling Central

EAST LIVERPOOL — Wheeling Central scored six goals in the first half and downed East Liverpool, 10-0, in girls soccer action Thursday.

East Liverpool’s Mollie Petrie made 16 saves in goal.

The Potters (1-9-1) will play at John Marshall on Oct. 4.

Beaver 4, Cambridge 0

CALCUTTA — Senior Jordan Palmer collected two goals and one assist to lead the Beaver Local girls past Cambridge, 4-0, on senior night Thursday.

Michelle Stoneburner and Karlee Cannon also scored goals. Caiden Lamp made three saves for the shutout.

Beaver Local improves to 7-3-1.

East Liverpool 3, Steubenville Central 3

EAST LIVERPOOL — Marquise Glenn’s corner kick from Matthus Cardoso Desousa with 13 minutes remaining gave the East Liverpool boys soccer team a 3-3 tie with Steubenville Central at Patterson Field on Thursday.

Ayden Wright had a pair of goals off assists by Preston Kerr and Preston Dawson to put the Potters up 2-0 before Steubenville Central took a 3-2 lead.

Jake Smith made six saves in goal for the Potters.

East Liverpool (4-4-2) will host Salem on Sept. 29.
