Tigers feast on Bears

LEETONIA — Jaxon Brewer totaled 27 points, 10 steals and five rebounds as Wellsville doubled up Leetonia, 63-30, Friday.

Isaiah Greathouse contributed 11 points and seven assists and freshman Tyrell Watkins had a person-high 10 points. Josiah Santiago added eight points.

The Tigers improve to 8-3 overall and 5-2 in the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference, trailing United by one game.

Andrew Hendricks paced the Bears with nine points.

Wellsville also won the junior varsity game, 40-30, as Donay Wilcox scored 10 points. Carson Brock had 11 points for Leetonia.

Wellsville will host Oak Glen at 5:30 p.m. today. Leetonia will play at Sebring on Tuesday.

Oak Glen 61, Steubenville Central 48

NEW MANCHESTER, W.Va. — Oak Glen jumped out to a 44-14 halftime lead on the way to a 61-48 win over Steubenville Catholic Central on Friday.

The Golden Bears improve to 2-8.

Jontae Howard led the winners with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Jered Hissam contributed 14 points and five assists and Chaise Clark added 10 points.

Oak Glen also won the junior varsity game, 50-30, behind Nick Ferguson’s 11 points.

The Golden Bears will play at Wellsville at 5:30 p.m. today.

East Palestine 45

EAST PALESTINE — Lisbon’s 58-45 win over East Palestine ended in silence Friday night.

The game was called with 1:21 remaining after a serious injury to sophomore Austin Dailey. Dailey was transported to a Youngstown hospital after running into a wall at East Palestine High School.

Hunter Dailey, Austin’s twin, scored a game-high 16 points. Trevor Siefke collected 15 points and 10 assists, while Austin Dailey had Austin Dailey nine points and two steals

Lisbon improves to 8-4 overall and 5-3 in the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference. East Palestine drops to 2-11.

Weston Jones guided the Bulldogs with 14 points. Evan Smith added 11 points.

East Palestine won the junior varsity game, 48-40.

Will Dixon led the Bulldogs with nine points. Noah Minor had 14 points for the Blue Devils.
