Columbiana 36, Wellsville 23

WELLSVILLE — Columbiana used a 10-0 run in the third quarter to pull out a 36-23 win over Wellsville on Thursday.

The Clippers improve to 8-6 overall and 6-2 in the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference, two games behind United.

Columbiana led 13-12 in second quarter and 18-15 in the third quarter before going ahead 28-15. Wellsville closed to within 28-17 at the end of the third quarter, but Columbiana maintained the margin in the fourth quarter.

Ellie Venezia had 12 points for the winners. Isabella Poppeltier had 13 points for the Tigers.

Columbiana will host Heartland on Saturday. Wellsville is at United next Thursday.

Lisbon 48, Valley 33

LISBON — This may be the week Lisbon turned the corner.

Madison Haifley totaled a game-high 19 points, six rebounds and five blocks and Cami Freeland had 11 points, five rebounds and six steals in the Blue Devils’ 48-33 win over Valley Christian on Thursday.

The Blue Devils — coming off a win over Columbiana on Monday — improve to 5-7 overall and 5-3 in the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference, trailling only United and Columbiana.

Parker Henthorne contributed eight points, 11 rebounds and three steals. Serenity Stacey dished out six assists.

There was no junior varsity game.

Lisbon will host Western Reserve on Saturday. A full junior varsity game is scheduled for noon, followed by the varsity contest.
