A Devil of a night for a Tip-Off
LISBON — Western Reserve started strong and finished strong Friday.
Western Reserve took an early 13-4 lead and outscored Lisbon 18-5 in the fourth quarter for a 62-43 win in the fifth Lisbon Boys Basketball Tip-Off Classic.
It was the season opener for both teams.
Dominic Riccardi paced Western Reserve with 17 points. David Altiere added 11 points, Dean Coman 10 and Hayden Fellows and David Ashburn each had eight.
Trevor Siefke, one of four sophomore starters for Lisbon, scored a game-high 28 points to go along with seven rebounds and five steals. Hunter Sturgeon contributed six points and 10 rebounds and Hunter Dailey made four blocks.
Western Reserve led 5-0 and 13-4 with as Altiere scored off an offensive rebound and converted the free throw
Siefke scored seven straight points to open the second quarter .and close the deficit to 20-19 before Western Reserve settled for a 29-26 halftime lead.
Western Reserve outscored Lisbon 33-17 in the second half to pull away.
Play continues at Lisbon High School today with two junior varsity games (Lisbon vs. Western Reserve at 3 p.m. and Heartland vs. Mineral Ridge at 4:30 p.m.) and two varsity games (Western Reserve vs. Heartland at 6 p.m. and Lisbon vs. Mineral Ridge at 7:30 p.m.) Tickets are $5 and only available at the door.
