Tigers ready to feast in OVAC

WELLSVILLE — It’s the beginning of another big week for the Wellsville Tiger volleyball team.

Wellsville dropped Valley of Pine Grove, West Virginia 25-12, 25-13, 25-12 on Tuesday in the OVAC Class 1A semifinal.

Wellsville is now 20-0 and is ranked ninth in Div. IV in the latest Ohio High School Volleyball Coaches Association poll.

The Tigers advance to meet Conotton Valley in the championship at 9 a.m. on Saturday at Union Local High School. The Rockets beat Beallsville 25-16, 25-21, 25-10 on Tuesday.

For the Tigers, Presley Stokes had 24 kills, four aces and a block. Alana Amato had six kills and eight aces. Brooke Hackney had four kills. Sarah Drysdale had three kills and a block. Gia Pucci had three kills. Emily McNichol added nine assists, two kills and two aces. Paige Green added 10 assists and three aces. Aubri Ramsey had 10 digs. Stakya Sallis added a kill. Myleigh Jackson had a kill and a block.

Before they can arrive at the OVAC championship, the Tigers will travel to MVAC Scarlet Division champion Western Reserve on Thursday. The match will be televised live on MyYTV at 7 p.m.

Urban Scholars 0

LISBON — Lisbon defeated Urban Scholars 25-4, 25-4, 25-6

For Lisbon, Eliza Baker had 26 points, 16 aces and eight kills.

Parker Henthorne and Madison Marriner had nine points and five aces each.

Mya Emmerling and Kelsi Burns had four kills each.

Brooklynn Cousins had 17 assists.

Lisbon (6-12) is at Jackson Milton today.

Southern 3, Toronto 1

SALINEVILLE — The Southern Local volleyball team improved to 16-5 by downing Toronto, 20-25, 27-25, 25-13, 25-19, Tuesday.

Leaders for the Indians were Ashley Shroades with 13 points and 12 kills, Hannah Reynolds 10 points, eight kills and five solo blocks, Rylee Mellott 20 assists, 12 kills and three solo blocks, Ronni Mayfield eight points and 18 assists, Aleah Bach five points and five kills and Makya Shaw eight digs.

Southern also won the junior varsity match, 25-16, 25-10. Gianna Pecorelli had 12 points for the Indians. Kennedy Lewis added seven points and three kills and Cheyenne Bennett had 10 assists.

The Indians will play at Toronto on Thursday.
