Beaver keeps it rolling

From Staff Reports

CALCUTTA –Beaver Local took care of business on its short-notice opponent Cleveland Lutheran East on Friday.

The Beavers came at the Falcons from all sides and came away with a 47-16 victory which mostly featured a running clock in the second half.

Beaver Local, who has won four straight, was scheduled to play at Oak Glen on Thursday but a positive COVID case on the Oak Glen team wiped out that game. Beaver Local booked Lutheran East on Wednesday.

Austin Cline threw touchdown passes to Logan Blissenbach and Dorian Jackson in the victory for the Beavers, 4-2. Jackson also threw for a touchdown early in the game.

Gabe Morgan rushed for two touchdowns for the Beavers as well.

The score was 33-0 at the break and the running clock was in place in the third quarter until the Falcons’ Mario Burks scored.

Beaver Local responded with two more second half touchdowns to put the game out of reach.

Noah Bowyer had his first rushing touchdown of the season in the fourth quarter for the winners. Kaydon Bobby had an interception for the Beavers in the second quarter.

The Falcons fell to 3-3.

The game started at 7:15 p.m. because Lutheran East was late getting to Beaver Local.

Beaver Local is at Harrison Central on Friday.
