Fowler still has what it takes

Walker Fowler is back to his dominating self on the Grand National Cross Country ATV circuit.

The 2011 Columbiana High School graduate is well on his way to his seventh consecutive national championship after winning six of nine events this season.

Fowler, 28 of Rogers, won his third consecutive race on June 27 at the Snowshoe Mountain Resort in West Virginia. He’s also won races at Wild Boar in Florida, The General in Georgia, Camp Coker Bullet in South Carolina, The John Penton in Ohio and Mason-Dixon in Pennsylvania. Fowler leads the Grand National Cross Country standings with 251 points. The second-place racer sits far back at 175 points.

He is the second consecutive GNCC ATV driver to win six straight titles, matching Chris Borich of Sunbury, Pennsylvania’s total from 2009-2014.

Fowler’s career goal is to match or break the record of nine set by Bill Balance from 2000-2008. Ballance, from Smiths Grove, Kentucky, was Fowler’s boss when he first rode professionally out of high school.
