Beavers battle Eagles

HANOVERTON — Beaver Local took a 7-0 lead on the way to a 14-8 win over United on Thursday.

Olivia Keller earned the complete-game victory and doubled and singled at the plate.

Alexis Jordan went 4-for-4 with four RBIs and Hailey Russell had three hits for the Beavers, who improve to 5-10 on the season. Halle Jordan doubled, singled, drive in two runs and score two more.

Beaver Local scored five runs in the second inning, highlighted by Halle Jordan’s two-run single. Keller followed with an RBI double and Alexis Jordan an RBI single.

Savannah Burton went 3-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI for the Eagles.

Colby Burton added two doubles, two RBIs and a run. Tori Firth doubled, singled and scored two runs, Mati Zines singled twice and scored two runs and Maidon Boys had two singles and a steal.

The teams will play at Beaver Local today.

Bellaire at Oak Glen (DH)

NEW MANCHESTER, W.Va. — Oak Glen’s softball team doubled its fun against Bellaire on Thursday with wins of 6-0 and 11-0.

In the first game, Sydney Brown had a home run and two RBIs for the Bears, 6-0.

Maddie McKay added two hits in addition to 15 strikeouts in the circle.

Sarah Brown had three hits including two doubles and two RBIs in the second game for the Golden Bears. McKay added a double and three RBIs. Lizzie Kell had two hits and two RBIs. She also struck out 12 in five innings of work.

Oak Glen will try to play two against East Liverpool today at Thompson Park.

LEETONIA — Wellsville’s softball team turned it on in an 18-9 rout of Leetonia on Thursday.

Jenna MNicol had four singles and a double for the Tigers. Kek Wolfe had a single and home run. Ashley Durbin had three singles. Kenzie Nixon had a triple.

For Leetonia, Gracie Duko had two singles and a double. Haleigh Brock had a single and double. Megan Rosko had a home run.

East Liverpool at Brooke (DH)

WELLSBURG, W.Va. — The Brooke softball team finally opened its season Thursday with a doubleheader sweep of East Liverpool.

In the opener, the Bruins won, 14-4, in five innings. Lex Foresha went the distance and allowed no earned runs on four hits, three walks and struck out 10. Ragen Zubay took the loss for the Potters, striking out a pair and walking three.

At the dish, Foresha shined with a single, home run and three RBIs. Felicity Eli tallied three singles and three RBIs. Wyntar McQuiston had a single, double and two RBIs.

Riley Davis and Krystalynn Moore evenly divided two doubles and two RBIs for East Liverpool.

In Game 2, Maleaha Misch tossed a two-hit shutout during Brooke’s 10-0, five-inning win. She walked none and struck out a dozen. Zubay started again for the Potters, striking out three and walking two. She tallied one of the team’s two hits with a double.

Offensively for the Bruins, Kameryn Eckels singled three times and drove home a run.

East Liverpool is scheduled to host Oak Glen today.
