YSU’s Kinsey places at Horizon League
FORT WAYNE, Indiana — Youngstown sophomore thrower Dominic Perry and freshman distance runner Hunter Christopher each placed in two events to help the YSU men’s track team to a sixth straight Horizon League title.
The Horizon League Indoor Track and Field Championship was held Friday through Monday at Lutheran Health Fieldhouse.
Perry, a two-time state champion at Crestview High School, won the shot put (54-feet-2 3/4) and was fourth in weight throw (56-5 3/4).
Christopher, a state placer in track and cross country at Salem High School, was fourth in the 3,000 meters (8:48.17) and eighth in the 5,000 meters (15:03.57).
Youngstown State won another men’s team title with 218 points, followed by Milwaukee with 180 1/2.
The Youngstown State women also repeated with 186 1/7 points. Milwaukee was second with 132 6/7.
YSU freshman Teddi Kinsey from Beaver Local was fifth in the women’s 60-meter hurdles (9.00 seconds).
YSU junior Ashleigh Rowley from Western Reserve was second in the women’s 4,000-meter distance medley relay (12:24.47) and ninth in the mile run (5:19.30).
Northern Kentucky junior Nelle Yankovich from Minerva was fifth in the mile run (5:15.58) and ninth in the distance medley relay (13:07.72)
