Potters put up a fight vs. Big Red

STEUBENVILLE — Steubenville came back from a seven-point deficit at the half to dump East Liverpool 38-36 on Thursday in prep girls basketball action.

Lexi Martin led Big Red with 14 points including eight in the final frame.

Alessandra Ferrazzano had 13 points for the Potters, 7-6. Mikayla Reed added 11 points.

East Liverpool is slated to travel to United on Saturday.

Beaver Local 50

RICHMOND — Beaver Local knocked down 11 three-pointers but Edison was just a bit sharper as the Wildcats came away with a 66-50 win in Buckeye 8 action on Thursday.

Beaver Local was led by Olivia Keller’s 20 points. Halle Jordan added 12 points.

Beaver Local fell to 1-10 and will host Martins Ferry on Monday.

South Range 38, Struthers 17

STRUTHERS — South Range clamped down on defense to deliver a 38-17 win over Struthers on Thursday in Northeast 8 play.

South Range led 14-11 at half before pulling away with an offensive burst in the second half.

South Range is 8-3, while Struthers fell to 4-8.

South Range will host Girard on Saturday.
