Potter boys roll at Buckeye 8 event
ST. CLAIRSVILLE — East Liverpool’s boys bowling team, led by sophomore Nathan Kelly, won the Buckeye 8 Athletic League title on Monday at St. Clair Lanes.
The Potters scored 3,683 to top the standings. Union Local was second with 3,595. Beaver Local took fourth with 3,144.
Kelly won individual honors with a 657 series and a 234 game. East Liverpool’s Paxton Grimes was fifth with a 620 series and a 247 game, while Beaver Local’s Arik Moore of Beaver Local was sixth with a 610 series and a 212 game and East Liverpool’s Derek Klein took eighth with a 592 series and a 227 game. Jacob Hoppel was Beaver Local’s second bowler with a 538 series and 166 game.
The Harrison Central girls were trailing East Liverpool by 48 pins going into the last baker game. The Huskies rolled a 201 to repeat as team champion by six pins.
Aleyna Runevitch led Harrison Central to the team title with a 557 series and a 212 series.
East Liverpool’s Delaney Riggle was second in the girls tournament with a 473 series and a 164 game, Beaver Local’s Karlee Furman was third with a 468 series and 166 game and East Liverpool’s Madyson McGaffic was seventh with a 446 series and a 167 game. Beaver Local’s added a 411 series and 146 game.
Beaver Local will play Crestview at 4 p.m. Monday at Hunt Club Lanes.
