Western Reserve 3, Wellsville 2

WELLSVILLE — Wellsville took the first two games but Western Reserve came back to grab three straight in a 23-25, 13-25, 25-12, 25-23, 15-9 win on Thursday in a battle of two key Div. IV programs.

For the Tigers (17-4), Emily McNicol had three kills and 14 assists, Aubri Ramsey two aces and eight kills, Emma Smith seven kills and two blocks, Greta Cartwright five aces and 17 assists, Meaghan Nixon four kills and 13 assists, Alana Amato 11 kills and four blocks and Jenna McNicol 32 digs.

Western Reserve won the jayvee portion 25-11, 25-23.

Paige Green had two aces and five assists.

Wellsville plays Paden City in the OVAC Class 1A final on Saturday at Union Local.

Columbiana 3,

Southern 0

SALINEVILLE– The Columbiana volleyball team improved to 17-5 on the season after defeating Southern 25-19, 25-7, 26-24. on Thursday.

For the Clippers, Maci Linhart had three kills and 20 digs, Grace Witmer had 10 digs and 14 assists, Tori Long had nine kills and 13 digs, and Julia Rapp had seven kills and three aces.

For Southern, Delainey Mellott had nine points, Rylee Mellott had eight assists, Camryn Mellott had four kills, Ashley Shroades had five kills and Hannah Reynolds had two kills and two blocks.

In jayvee action, Southern won 26-24, 25-19.

For the Clippers, Mia Strohecker had eight points and Maria Malcomson had seven points.

For Southern, Makya Shaw had seven points, Chelsie Veglia had five points and Katie Calderon had five kills.

Columbiana will next play Wednesday at home against Leetonia in the first round of their district tournament.

Southern will next play in sectionals on Tuesday at Ashtabula St. John.

Oak Glen vs Beaver Local

8th Grade: Oak Glen won 25-15, 25-20 on Thursday. Oak Glen, Reecelyn Craig 14 points, Tia Vick 8 points.

Next: Oak Glen will play at East Liverpool in the BMC finals on Tuesday.
