Beavers strike Philo
CALCUTTA– Top-seeded Beaver Local captured a Div. II sectional volleyball title Wednesday night by defeating Philo, 25-18, 25-20, 23-25, 25-14.
For the Beavers (22-1), Bailee Bowersock had four kills, two assists, and 11 digs. Karlee Furman had three aces, five kills, 25 assists, nine digs, and 18 points. Kodi Kinsey had two aces and 22 digs. Eli Kolkowski had 14 kills, three blocks, and 11 points. Erin O’Hara had two kills and three digs. Leah Riccardo had two aces, three kills, four digs, and two points. Emma Roberts added one ace and five points. Brooke Talbot had two aces, 14 kills, 24 assists, 14 digs, and nine points. Grace Hill had 13 kills and two blocks. Cierrah Thurik had one ace, six digs, and three points.
For Philo, Amasia Barnett had 16 digs. Brooke Colling had nine kills and one block. Lydia Fink had nine kills and three blocks. Darbi Henderson had five kills, six digs, one block and two aces. Natalie May had 23 assists, 10 digs and one ace. Ashley Pletcher had nine digs. Caitlin Rose had six kills and one block.
“I thought we played well tonight as a team,” Erin O’Hara said. “We continue to keep pushing ourselves and playing together to get to where we want to be. We reached our goal of getting to districts and now we need keep playing with the same intensity and energy.”
Beaver Local, ranked 10th in the final Div. II state coaches poll, will host No. 7 seed Tri-Valley on Tuesday in a district semifinal.
