Beaver spikes Bears
CALCUTTA — Beaver Local’s state-ranked varsity volleyball team ousted Oak Glen 25-13, 25-22, 23-25, 25-17 on Thursday in prep volleyball action.
For the Beavers, who are ranked 11th in Div. II by the state coaches association, Bailee Bowersock had four digs. Karlee Furman had two aces, six kills, 25 assists, 13 digs, and 15 points. Kodi Kinsey added two aces, 23 digs and six points. Leah Riccardo had six kills and five points. Emma Roberts had two aces, three digs and nine points. Brooke Talbot had 14 kills, 13 assists, 11 digs, and nine points. Cierrah Thurik had two aces, 11 digs and 10 points.
For Oak Glen, Alayna Kranis contributed 13 kills and eight aces. Ashlyn Six carded seven kills with Rory McNutt producing five kills. Gracie Wright had 27 assists. Sydney Smith had five digs and four aces.

Beaver Local’s jayvee team won 25-8, 25-10. For the Beavers, Becca Buchheit had four kills, while Hannah Kelly had 10 digs. Madison Lowe had two aces, six digs and eight points. Briar Wolski had seven kills, while Chloe Reed had nine points. Peyton Roberts chipped in three kills and five points with Lexi Schrieber had 12 points.
Madi Blach had two kills and three digs. Maddy Cline had three aces.

East Palestine 3,
LISBON — East Palestine’s volleyball team bounced Lisbon 25-23, 19-25, 25-18, 26-24 on Thursday in Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference play.
For East Palestine (8-5, 6-4) Malynn Bistarkey had 10 kills. Mia Lee had five blocks, nine kills and 14 digs. Gia Brestelli had 4 points and 16 digs. McKenna Griffith had 14 points, four aces and 16 digs.
For Lisbon, Brooke VanGiesen had 16 points, six kills and 13 digs. Julia Leko had 10 points and 17 digs. McKenna Dailey had 37 digs, while Eliza Baker came up with 19 assists.
Lisbon is 3-9 and 3-7 in the EOAC.
Lisbon is at Malvern on Monday.
East Palestine won the jayvee portion, 25-20, 25-21. Madison Marriner had eight points for Lisbon.
East Palestine hosts Warren JFK on Monday.
Wellsville 3, Leetonia 0
LEETONIA — Wellsville remained two games ahead in the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference with a 25-3, 25-7, 25-18 win over Leetonia on Thursday.
The Tigers are 11-2 overall and 10-0 in the EOAC, two games ahead of United and Columbiana.
Leading the way for Wellsville were Greta Cartwright with nine aces and 14 assists, Jenna McNicol five aces, Emily McNicol two aces and 11 assists, Alana Amato nine kills and one block, Aubri Ramsey one ace and three kills, and Emma Smith and Megan Nixon with six kills apiece.
Wellsville also won the junior varsity match, 25-14, 25-20, as Makenzie Nixon had five aces and Paige Green five assists.
The Tigers will host East Liverpool on Monday.
