Potters suffer first loss of season

ST. CLAIRSVILLE — East Liverpool dug itself too big of a hole during a 53-37 loss to Meadowbrook at the Buckeye 8 Challenge on Saturday.

The Potters trailed 30-16 at haltime and cut the margin to five in the third quarter, but could get no closer.

It was the first loss of the season for East Liverpool, now 5-1. Meadowbrook improves to 4-2.

Tresean Jackson led the Potters with 18 points. Timmy Neal added eight points.

East Liverpool will play at Steubenville on Friday.

EAST PALESTINE — Beaver Local was the only area boys team to earn a victory over a Pennsylvania team on Saturday at the East Palestine Border Battle.

The Beavers downed South Side Beaver 66-41 in the third boys game of the day. Beaver Local has won three straight and five out of the last six.

Luke Chetock powered the winners with 14 points, while Josh Hilditch tallied 12. Logan Reed added 11 points.

Beaver Local (6-3) will host Indian Valley on Dec. 30.
