Enochs named tourney MVP

WELLSBURG — Oak Glen used a big fourth quarter to clip Catholic Central 48-45 Friday and capture the championship of the 2019 Brooke Lady Bruins Tip-Off Tournament.

The now 2-0 Golden Bears were down five (33-28) after three quarters but outscored the Crusaders, 20-12, during the final eight minutes to seal the victory.

Central, following a Morgan Green free throw make, led 45-44 with 12 ticks left. Oak Glen’s Brittney Giorgini then drained a triple to put the Golden Bears ahead.

Reece Enochs and Alayna Kranis both scored 13 points to pace the winners. Enochs connected three times from behind the arc. Giorgini added seven, all coming in the decisive fourth quarter.

Enochs, who scored 19 in Thursday’s win over Brooke, was named the tournament’s MVP. All-Tournament selections were Ava Bolen of Brooke, Nevean Cook from Linsly, Kranis, Oliver and Central’s Hannah Olszewski.
