Park tops Beaver

CALCUTTA — Beaver Local’s girls soccer team was a little overmatched against the Ohio Valley Athletic Conference’s leading Class 5A team on Thursday.

Wheeling Park (9-0-3) swarmed the Beavers to score a 7-2 victory at Beaver Local’s field.

The Beavers fall to 5-2-2 and most likely will finish third in the OVAC Class 4A standings. A trip to either Oak Glen or St. Clairsville is on tap for the Beavers for the semifinals of the OVAC Class 4A tournament next week.

Park built a 3-1 lead in the first half before cruising to the win. Mia Zecca had a hat trick for the Patriots, while Graceylyn Hanna added two goals.

Jordan Palmer scored off a corner kick from Jensen Britt in the first half for the Beavers. Britt added a penalty kick goal in the second half.

Hailey Russell had 14 saves in goal for the Beavers who are at Minerva on Saturday for a boy-girl doubleheader.

East Liverpool 3,

Indian Creek 3

WINTERSVILLE–The East Liverpool boys soccer team tied Indian Creek 3-3 Thursday.

The Potters are now 4-1-2 overall.

Brennan O’Hara, Ayden Payne and Jacob Myers each had one goal for the Potters. Myers, Audun Barnhart and Izaiha Browning each had one assist. Levi George had six saves in goal.

The jv match ended in a 1-1 draw. Connor Loosemore scored the lone goal for the Potters. Joey McNicol had the assist. Gabe Dunlap had four saves in goal.

The Potters will now gear up for OVAC 4A tournament action either Tuesday or Wednesday.

Beaver Local 3, Harrison Central 1

CADIZ–The Beaver Local boys soccer team picked up a 3-1 victory over Harrison Central Thursday.

The Beavers improve to 5-2-1 overall.

Chase Flati, Zach Smith and Alex Miller each had one goal for Beaver Local. Miller had two assists, while Flati had one assist. Ashton Bowser had four saves in goal.

The Beavers are currently in line to host an OVAC 4A tournament game Tuesday.

Jefferson County

Christian 4, Wellsville 1

WELLSVILLE — Jefferson County Christian topped Wellsville 4-1 on Thursday in soccer action.

C.J. Heffner had the Tigers’ only goal. Levi Boley had seven saves.

East Palestine is at Wellsville on Monday.
