Malvern at Wellsville

7 p.m., Friday

Things are looking up for the Tigers (2-0) after a 41-7 win over Div. V Edison last Friday. Last season the Tigers edged out the Hornets (1-1) by one. A win here sets the stage for a good run with a very favorable schedule ahead for Wellsville. .

Beaver Local at Minerva

7 p.m., Friday

Could this be it? By virtue of Buckeye Local snapping its 43-game losing streak last Friday, Minerva now owns Ohio’s longest current losing streak at 42 games. The Lions (0-2) are close though after losing the first two games by a combined 16 points. Beaver (1-1) will have to be careful after unexpectedly losing to Akron Kenmore-Garfield last week.

Buckeye Local at Oak Glen

7 p.m., Friday

Oak Glen (2-0) is off to its best start since 2012 behind its explosive offense. The Golden Bears can’t sleep on the Panthers as the team snapped its 43-game winning streak last week against Union Local.

Lisbon vs. Valley Christian at Poland

7 p.m., Saturday

Lisbon (0-2) has lost six straight and has been shutout four times in those losses including a 33-0 defeat vs. Mineral Ridge last week. Valley Christian (0-2) has scored six points in each of its defeats and is riding a seven-game losing streak. And oh yeah, the Eagles were a playoff team last season.

Steubenville Central at Southern

7 p.m., Saturday

Southern (2-0) took care of business against the Crusaders last season in a 26-13 win on the road. The Indians have many of the same pieces in place this time around but the Crusaders (1-1) have a winning pedigree. On a side note, Southern’s non-league opponents are a combined 1-7 so far so the Indians may have little room for error when it comes to making the playoffs.
