Potters, Beavers back at it

EAST LIVERPOOL — It was a new season for the East Liverpool and Beaver Local boys soccer teams on Friday night at Patterson Field, but it was more of the same.

Three out of four meetings last season were tied after regulation for the rivals and this opener ended in a 3-3 tie.

East Liverpool rallied from a 3-1 deficit to earn the draw. Ayden Payne’s goal with 10 minutes left put the Potters level.

Brennan O’Hara and Jake Myers added goals for the Potters. Payne also had an assist.

The game was tied at 1 at the break.

Alex Miller scored twice for the Beavers, while Chase Flati had the other goal.

Levi George had eight saves in goal for East Liverpool.

“It was another great game for these two teams and that’s something that you love to be a part of as a coach,” East Liverpool coach Zack Kinsey said.

The teams played to draws in both regular season meetings last season. In an OVAC tournament game the two teams were also tied after regulation. The only game which ended in regulation last season was an OHSAA tournament game in which the Beavers won 1-0.
