Wellsville pair win big

Despite the high muddy river and thunderstorms, the Chester Newell Sportsman’s Club Ohio River Catfish Tournament on June 1 did produce some winners. Josh Keener of Wellsville (left) caught a 30-inch flathead to win while William Robb of Wellsville (right) was the lucky draw winner with a catch of 25 1/2 inches. The next tournament will be held starting at 7 p.m. on Saturday. It will run until 7 a.m. Sunday. Measuring will be done at Chester City Park Marina. Sign up at Chaney’s Sunoco. A free, open-to-the-public kids fishing tournament will be held from 1:30 to 4 p.m. on Saturday at the club on Gas Valley Road. The tournament is for those ages 3-15. Kids get a free hot dog, drink and door prizes.
