EL’s Todd bowls with the best

COLUMBUS — East Liverpool senior Billy Todd was on the big stage Saturday at Wayne Webb’s Columbus Bowl.

Todd finished 66th in the Division II boys state bowling tournament with a 549 series. He rolled games of 173-210-166.

He qualified for state by bowling a 636 series at districts.

Belmont Union Local senior Alberto Dunlap won the state title with a 719 series (205-279-235). Dunlap was third last year.

The St. Mary’s Memorial boys won the Division II team title Saturday — one day after the girls team also won a state title.

St. Mary’s Memorial entered the championship round in fourth place, but climbed up the ladder in the finals. St. Mary’s Memorial topped Plain City Jonathan Alder, 3-0, in the state championship with game of 258-194-219 to 201-180-192.

Girard, which led going into the finals with 3,715 pins, finished fifth in the team standings.
