Oak Glen knocks off Potters on senior night

EAST LIVERPOOL — Oak Glen spoiled East Liverpool’s senior night on Monday thanks in part to Maggie Kovalcik’s 22 points and six steals in a 62-54 win.

Reece Enochs added 15 points for the Golden Bears, while Alexa Andrews had 11 points and eight rebounds.

Emma Ludwig highlighted the Potters with 18 points.

East Liverpool hosts United on Thursday.

Oak Glen wraps up its regular season at 10-12. The team’s sectional tournament opponent has not been set yet.

COLUMBIANA — After erasing a 28-game losing streak last week, the Wellsville girls basketball team is on a winning streak.

Camryn Jackson had 19 points as the Tigers dropped Heartland 47-43 on Monday. Kiki Perry added 10 points and 15 rebounds, while Hunter Weekley had seven points and 11 rebounds. Cameron Carlevale had seven points, six rebounds, six assists and three steals.

Madison Matthews had 14 points for the Lions, 3-15.

Wellsville is 2-19 and will host Edison on Thursday.

Heartland hosts Mathews today.

LISBON — Fresh off its first OVAC title in school history, the Beaver Local girls basketball team kept it going with a 49-46 win over Lisbon on Monday.

Jenna Riccardo led the Beavers (14-7) with 24 points.

Lisbon (15-6) led by seven at the half. Izzy Perez led the Devils with 14 points, six steals and four assists. Chloe Smith chipped in 10 points.

Lisbon won the jayvee portion, 39-36. Madison Haifley had 15 points for the Devils. Leah Riccardo scored 14 for the Beavers.

Lisbon is at Jackson-Milton Thursday.

Beaver Local entertains Wheeling Central on Wednesday.

CALCUTTA — Southern Local bested Beaver Local 51-45 on Monday in boys basketball action.

Cam Grodhaus had 14 points and four steals for the Indians. Brock Smalley added 10 points and four assists. Nick May had eight boards.

Luke Chetock had 13 points, four rebounds and two assists for the Beavers. Tate Jospeh added 11 points and four rebounds.

Southern is 13-6.

Beaver Local falls to 6-14 and hosts Linsly today in an OVAC consolation pool game.

Southern hosts Indian Creek in an OVAC consolation pool game today.

Southern won the jayvee portion, 50-40. Mark Soukup had 11 points for the winners.
