COLUMBIANA — In a battle of state-ranked teams, it was the Wellsville Tigers who grabbed the victory 25-23, 18-25, 21-25, 25-18, 15-9 over Crestview on Saturday.

Wellsville, ranked 12th in the state in Div. IV by the Ohio High School Volleyball Coaches Association moved to 13-1. Crestview, ranked seventh in Div. III, fell to 11-2.

“It was high quality volleyball from both teams,” Wellsville coach Dan McKinstry said.

The Tigers rode the momentum into the fourth and fifth games to the victory. Kiki Perry came up big in the fifth game with eight straight points via seven kills and a block. She finished with 19 kills and seven blocks.

Reagan Pierson had 12 kills and 33 assists. Delaney Cochran had two aces and three kills. Greta Cartwright had 25 assists and two kills. Kinley Martin had 21 kills and two blocks with Jenna McNicol providing 29 digs. Emma Smith had five kills.

For the Rebels, Brenna Auer had 12 kills, seven digs and five points. Emily Emch had 11 kills, six digs and five points. Tess Neville had 10 kills and four digs, while Sidney Rambo had seven kills, seven blocks and three digs.

Crestview won the jayvee portion, 25-15, 26-24. Lucy Montomery had 16 assists, 10 points and three aces. Preslyn Wolfe had eight kills, while Allycia Flowers had six kills.

For Wellsville, Emily McNicol had three kills and five assists. Meaghan Mixon had three kills.

Wellsville is at Columbiana on Tuesday. Crestview hosts Brookfield on Tuesday.

Lisbon 3, Heartland 2

COLUMBIANA — Lisbon’s volleyball team topped Heartland 22-25, 19-25, 25-16, 25-22, 19-17 on Saturday.

For Lisbon, Maddie Liberati had 12 points, 12 kills, 31 digs and six blocks. Corinne Freeman had 13 points, 14 kills and nine blocks.

For Heartland (7-7), Charis Direnzo had 13 kills, 10 points and 13 digs. Dara Arthurs had 15 points, 10 kills and 14 digs. Lydia Wilson had 47 assists and 16 digs.

Lisbon won the jayvee portion, 25-22, 25-20.

Madi Matthews had 17 assists for Heartland, while Jessica Brunk had five kills.

Heartland is at Malvern on Monday. Lisbon is at Toronto on Tuesday.
