No state berth in the cards for Kinsey

NEW CONCORD–Beaver Local sophomore Teddi Kinsey came up a little short of qualifying for the state track meet Saturday in Div. II regional track action Saturday at Muskingum University.

Kinsey finished sixth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.73. She also finished sixth in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 47.94. The top-four finishers advance to the state track meet to be held June 1st and 2nd at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium in Columbus.

Minerva saw a number of athletes punch their ticket to Columbus on Saturday.

The girls 800-meter relay team of Amanda Kukunis, Julie White, Ava Burman and Alyssa Markins took third with a time of 1:46.98.

Kukunis will also be competing at state individually, as she finished second in the 400 dash with a time of 59.16.

Also making it for the Minerva girls was the 400 relay team of Idresia Leavell, Skylar Trussell, White and Markins, who came in second with a time of 50.55.

The Minerva girls 1600 relay team of Burman, Sarah Carver, Trussell and Kukunis slipped in with a fourth place finish (4:09.73)

Mackenzie Scott took third in the 3200 run (11:14.05) to book her spot in Columbus.

Carver was an at-large selection in the 800 run. She finished fifth with a time of 2:18.63.

Joey Stafford was also an at-large selection in the boys 1600 run. He earned a fifth-place finish with a time of 4:27.58.

Also for Minerva, Nelle Yankovich came up short of Columbus, as she finished fifth in the 1600 run (5:21.74) and eighth in the 800 run (2:29.57).

Markins just missed in the 100-meter dash with a fifth-place finish (12.92).

Renee Hartong finished 15th in the discus with a throw of 90-10.

Nick Bledsoe was ninth in the 3200 run (10:12.33).
