Prince powers Vikings

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla.–East Liverpool graduate Blake Prince helped lead the Cleveland State’s men golf team to its fifth straight Horizon League Championship at the El Campeon Course at Mission Inn Resort Tuesday.

The Vikings finished with a team score of 889 beating out Oakland by 18 shots (907).

Prince was named to the all-tournament team with a combined score of 222 (74-78-70), good for fifth place. He was two over through the first four holes of the final round before rallying with three straight birdies to close the front nine. After stumbling again with two bogeys in the first three holes on the back nine, Prince closed strong with back-to-back birdies.

The Vikings now advance to the NCAA regionals which will be held from May 14-16 at a site to be announced. The NCAA selection show will take place at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 2 and will be broadcast live on The Golf Channel.
