Columbiana County Sheriff Reports 11-10

Vanessa Porter, Failer Road, East Palestine, reported at 11 p.m. Thursday being assaulted by her boyfriend, who shoved her around and struck her. Porter, who is 5-months pregnant, had bruises on her neck and marks on her arm. Brian E. Haines, 25, was arrested for domestic violence.

William McGee of Steubenville reported he was at a home on state Route 344, Fairfield Township, at 5 p.m. Thursday when the person he knows who lives there grabbed him by the shirt. McGee said he was uninjured but his girlfriend became alarmed and called 911.

East Liverpool police asked the sheriff's office to check on someone who lives on Fairway Road, Madison Township, at 12:27 p.m. Thursday. A deputy went to the house and there were no vehicles in the driveway, nor did anyone answer the door or appear to be inside.

Christy Plowman called at 1:17 a.m. Thursday and asked for a deputy to check on someone who lives on Carter Road, New Waterford. The deputy spoke with the person, who said everything was fine.

Cindy Turney, Signal Road, Columbiana, reported Thursday receiving harassing text messages. A deputy spoke with the texter, Jenny Waynewright, who agreed to have no further contact with Turney.

Jamie Miller reported Thursday about a possible theft at a vacant home for sale on state Route 172 in West Township. The deputy found the house secure, although the garage man door appeared to been forced open at some point.

Lillian Catlett, Rochester Road, East Rochester, who reported hearing gunshots Wednesday night, discovered bullet holes in her barn the next day. The deputy said the holes appeared to have been made from a shotgun shell.
