EAST LIVERPOOL -The Elks Lodge No. 258 will have "Night at the Races" with post time 7:45 p.m. today. All proceeds will go to the Children's Christmas Charities.

HAMMONDSVILLE - The Brush Creek 50 Plus Club will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Senior Center.

A covered dish meal, with dessert provided. Anyone over 50 in Brush Creek Township is welcome to attend.

A meeting at 7 p.m. will follow.

EAST LIVERPOOL - The Jaycees are getting ready for their annual Snow Queen and Snow King, Jack Frost and Little Miss Snow Flake Contest donations for the upcoming Christmas Parade for Dec. 8. Contestants for Snow Queen and Snow King are from ages 5-9 and Jack Frost and Little Miss Snow Flake are from ages 2-4. The winners will be determined by the most money donated for the Christmas Parade.

Contestants for this contest will need to be at the Life Team Office, downtown, to register and pick up donation sheets from 5-6:30 p.m. Monday.

The donation sheets need to be turned in from 5-6:30 p.m. Dec. 5 at the Life Team Office, downtown.

Winner of this contest (parents must accompany child) will ride with Santa in his Sleigh. Winners will also be announced during the Light Up Night event of the city's Christmas Tree in the Diamond after the parade.

WELLSVILLE - The WHS All Stars Lip Sync and Musical Variety group will be presenting their fall show 7 p.m. Nov. 10, in the Auditeria. Doors will open at 6:15 p.m. for advance ticket holders, and 6:30 p.m. for those buying tickets at the door. Advance tickets are $6 and tickets bought at the door will be $8. EAST LIVERPOOL - The Help Me Grow Playgroup will meet from 10-11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Westgate Elementary. For information, call 330-424-0288.

LISBON - The Family and Community Resource Center will begin taking names for toys in collaboration with the Marine Corps Toys for Tots until Dec.15.

Due to the high level of need in our community, we ask families that are not signed up at another location to call. Any child between the ages of 6 months and 14 years are eligible to receive a toy this holiday season. Parents are asked to phone the FCRC Community Resource Center at 330-420-0044 to register their children. Parents will need to bring proof of residency, children's birth certificates and ID when picking up toys.

The Marine Corps Toys to Tots has been assisting Columbiana County families for many years, and will accept donations of toys or monetary gifts which are tax deductible at FCRC or through Deborah Oberlin, by calling 330-418-7516 for boxes or donations which are tax deductible.

EAST LIVERPOOL - Ohio Valley Home Health Services, Inc. (OVHHS) will host a First Aid and CPR certification class from 6-10 p.m. Nov. 20 at the Community Education Center at OVHHS, state Route 170.

The CPR portion of the class will be held from 6-8 p.m. and First Aid from 8-10 p.m. and may be taken together for the full 4 hours or separately.The fee for the class is $40 for both CPR and First Aid or $20 for a single course. OVHHS recognizes the importance of learning and re-learning CPR and First Aid for all those living in the community and urge everyone to become certified, if not already.

The First Aid and CPR course will be offered monthly to area residents in need of the certification for either professional or personal reasons. To register for the course or for detailed information on all of the educational events being held at OVHHS, contact Megan Shimmel, Director of Community Education, at 330-385-2333.

EAST LIVERPOOL - The Jaycees is having a Holiday Window Decorating Contest for all local businesses in the Downtown/Calcutta Area to coincide with the Christmas Parade and Light Up Night on Dec. 8.

Windows will be judged on Dec. 5th. A first, second and third place winner will be chosen.

Winners will be announced in the local newspaper and at the Light Up Night Event and will be given an award wreath to hang in their window during the Christmas Festivities.

CALCUTTA - The Beaver Creek Wildlife Education Center is having a Benefit Event with the screening of Green Fire, featuring Aldo Leopold. at 7 p.m. Nov. 17 at the Peter Metrovich Community Center, St. Clair Township Administration Building, Pugh Road. The cost for tickets is $15 per person or $25 per couple.

Hors d'oeuvres, beverages and desserts, as well as an auction of gift baskets will be available.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Beaver Creek Wildlife Education Center, located at the entrance to Beaver Creek State Park. For information, call Karen Henry at 330-932-0908.
