Good move by television network

You may want to sit down for this: Hollywood has done something worthy of praise. For once, the movie moguls have put ethics ahead of money.

Paramount Network had planned a television reprise of the 1988 film, “Heathers.” The original version starred Winona Rider and Christian Slater.

It was a “black comedy about high-school murder and suicide,” according to The Associated Press.

After the Parkland, Fla., school shooting in February, Paramount delayed airing the new version. Now, the firm’s parent company, Viacom, has revealed the “Heathers” remake has been scrapped altogether.

The subject matter would not be appropriate in the current environment, Viacom stated. No, it would not.

That hasn’t stopped some from attempting to make school violence profitable. One computer game producer tried to market “Active Shooter,” in which players can pretend to invade schools on killing sprees. It appears no one will agree to sell the game.

Good for Viacom. Good for retailers who rejected “Active Shooter.” In this day and age of every action being ruled by the profit motive, it’s appropriate to recognize people for doing the right thing
