Robert L. ‘Bob’ Moffitt

1940-2025

Robert L. “Bob” Moffitt, 84, of East Liverpool, passed away at West Penn Hospital in Pittsburgh on Monday, Jan. 6, 2025.

Bob was born on Sept. 18, 1940, in Wheeling, W.Va. He was the son of the late Robert A. and Lillie Ruth Davis Moffitt.

He retired as an operator from the former Crucible Steel in Midland; during his formative years he was a member of the Newell Church of Christ. Bob was a 1959 graduate of Wells High School in Newell. He was a huge sports fan, especially the Cleveland Indians and the Detroit Lions. Baseball was his favorite sport; he even played on the championship team while serving in Germany. Always active, Bob loved to bowl, fish, hunt, and play horseshoes. He proudly served his country with the US Army in Germany during the Vietnam conflict.

His parents, his wife, Kathleen Paradinovich Moffitt, and his son, Robert P. Moffitt, preceded him in death.

Saddened by his loss are his sons, Timothy L. Moffitt of Deerfield Beach, Fla., and David N. (Doris Smith) Moffitt of East Liverpool; his brothers, Bill (Janie) Moffitt of Pittsburgh and Ron (Sherry) Moffitt of Springfield, Mo.; three grandchildren, Dustin Shreve, Stephanie Shreve, and Heather Shreve; and five great-grandchildren, Dillon, Kenneth, Waylon, Rory, and Rowyn.

Pastor David Strum of the Newell Church of Christ will celebrate Bob’s life at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester on Sunday, Jan. 12, at 1 p.m. where full military honors will be accorded by VFW Post 6450 and WV National Guard Honor Guard. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the funeral home on Saturday from 1 to 3 and 5 to 7 p.m.
