Thomas ‘Tommy’ Patterson Jr.

Thomas “Tommy” Patterson Jr., 52, of Newell, passed away Saturday, Nov. 9, 2024, after a long fought battle with cancer. He was born on May 6, 1972 in East Liverpool Ohio, the son of Donna (Foltz) Cunningham, of Newell, and the late Thomas Patterson Sr. Besides his father, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Don and Rose Foltz and a cousin.

He was a graduate of Oak Glen, employed with Homer Laughlin, a member of the Newell Volunteer Fire Department, the Chester Volunteer Fire Department and the Hancock County Sheriff’s Reserves. He was an avid Steelers and WVU fan. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Besides his mother, he is survived by a brother, Donnie (Jodie) Patterson of Wellsville; two nephews, Brandon (Abby) and Nathan (Jada), and a great-nephew, Luka. He is also survived by aunts and uncles, Dan (Judy) Foltz of Newell, Donnie Foltz of Newell, Debbie Helms of Newell, David (Connie) Foltz of New Cumberland and Diana Foltz of Chester; many cousins and great-cousins and a special great-aunt, Sheila Foltz and by his canine companion, “Max.”

Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2024, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Nixon Funeral Home of Newell, where a funeral service will be held on Thursday, Nov. 14, at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Shadow Lawn Memory Gardens of Newell.
