Janice Kay Forsythe

COLUMBIANA — Janice Kay Forsythe, 74, of West Garfield Road passed away Friday, July 30, 2021 at 11:15 a.m. at the St. Mary’s Alzheimer’s Center following a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.

Born December 16, 1946 in East Liverpool, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Kenneth C. and Louise M. Dailey Eardley.

A lifetime area resident, she was a longtime educator in the Beaver Local School System retiring in 2008 after 34 years service primarily teaching science. Janice dedicated her life to her family, friends and community. She was a dedicated and loving mother, selfless wife, and brought everyone into her home with open arms. She was her children’s greatest supporter involved with each one of their activities. She loved cooking, baking, reading and being an active member of her community. Janice loved being a teacher. Her passion for teaching was apparent from the time that she spent not just teaching her students, but truly caring about them. She cherished the relationships that she built with her students over the years and always went above and beyond to help any student in need.

A member of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in East Liverpool, she was also a member of the Ohio Education Association. Janice was always involved in Beaver Local events as a behind the scenes supporter, working as the head of all ticket sales. She coached Track, worked with the school yearbook committee and was a club advisor.

A 1964 graduate of East Liverpool High School, she then attended Kent State University where she earned her bachelor’s degree. From there she went to Ashland University to earn her master’s degree.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Judge Megan Bickerton and her husband, David of East Liverpool, Ohio, and her son, Matthew Forsythe of Albuquerque, New Mexico. There are three grandsons, Lucas Forsythe, Wesley Bickerton and Jack Bickerton.

In addition, she leaves behind three sisters, Judith Britton and her husband, Doug of Blairsville, Georgia, Susan Eardley of Englewood, Florida and Sandra “Sandy” Hice of Clearwater, Florida.

Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Dann Forsythe in 2016.

Friends may visit the family on Thursday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Dawson Funeral Home in East Liverpool, Ohio. Pastor Norm Eckert of the Beechwood Free Methodist Church will officiate a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
