Mona G. Wilson

WELLSVILLE — Mona G. Wilson, 86, of Wellsville, passed away Friday, April 30, 2021, at East Liverpool City Hospital.

She was born November 26, 1934, in Proctorville, Ohio, the daughter of the late Mary Edda (Layne) and Frank Thompson, Sr. In addition to her parents, Mona was preceded in death by one sister, Janis Moxley; and six brothers: Alvan E. “Dopsey” Thompson, John Neal Thompson, Terry “Skeekie” Thompson, William “Bill” Thompson, Martin A. “Mickey” Thompson, and Frank David Thompson, Jr.

Mona graduated from Wellsville High School in 1953. She was employed as the manager of the East Liverpool Country Club until her retirement. Following her retirement, Mona was the head bartender at the East Liverpool Motor Lodge and also worked in the office and as a driver for Catholic Charities. Mona was an avid fan of the Wellsville High School Tigers sports teams and attended numerous sporting events. She was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Survivors include her six children: David “Bug” Thompson and his wife, Brenda, of Wellsville, Joan Thompson of Sandusky, Roger Thompson of Wellsville, James Wilson of Wellsville, Mary “Cissy” Wilson of Wellsville, and Budda Wilson and his wife, Amy, of Wellsville. Also surviving is one sister, Kay Wolfe and her husband, Milton, of Wellsville; one brother, Michael Thompson of East Liverpool; three sisters-in-law: Carol Thompson of Wellsville, Beverly Thompson of Wellsville, and Olivia Thompson of Painesville, OH; and twenty-three grandchildren, thirty great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.

Family and friends may call from 5:00-7:00 PM on Wednesday, May 5, 2021, at the Roberts Funeral Home, 631 Main Street in Wellsville. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the number of people in the funeral home at one time will be limited to maintain proper social distancing protocols, and in compliance with the orders of Governor Mike DeWine, masks must be properly worn while in the funeral home.

Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.
