Paul B. Nightingale

SALEM — Paul B. Nightingale, 84, of Lisbon passed away Thursday, November 19, 2020 at Salem North Healthcare Center.

Paul was born in East Liverpool on November 2, 1936 a son of the late Paul F. and Evelyn (Campsey) Nightingale. Paul resided in Wellsville until graduating from Wellsville High School in 1954 as class president. He attended Ohio Wesleyan College for two years, attended Carnegie Institute of Technology and took courses in metallurgy at the Iron and Steel Institute.

He proudly served in the United States Army after the Korean War. Paul worked for the Ohio Division of Wildlife on a surveyor’s crew and participated in the surveying of the Highlandtown Lake Project. He also worked several positions both blue and white collar at the Crucible Steel Company. Paul was later employed at Titanium Metals, Inc. initially in the physical testing laboratory then the accounting and data processing departments. He finished his career, residing in Columbus and based out of New York City, in the field auditing and investigation division of the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. Paul retired from Metropolitan Life as a senior supervisor of accounts and had traveled extensively throughout the Midwest, Texas and Louisiana.

Preceding Paul in death were several aunts and uncles.

Left to cherish his memory are many cousins including Bob Croft and his wife Mary of Sugar Grove, Ohio and Janet Campbell and her husband Earl of Calcutta.

Friends may visit at the Dawson Funeral Home on Wednesday where the family will be present from 10 to 11 a.m. Pastor Norm Eckert of Beechwood Free Methodist Church will conduct a funeral service Wednesday 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Columbiana County Memorial Park. In compliance with Ohio state regulations with concerns of the COVID-19 virus masks must be worn at all times in the funeral home.
