Stella Rose Georgalas

WELLSVILLE — Stella Rose Georgalas, 87, of Wellsville, passed away Monday, October 12, 2020, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown.

She was born April 7, 1933, in Wellsville, the daughter of the late James and Angelina (Pronesti) Gullace. In addition to her parents, Stella was preceded in death by four brothers: Tony, Johnny, Dominic, and Vincent Gullace.

Stella graduated from Wellsville High School in 1951. She was employed as a hostess and waitress at the former Waterford Park. She was a member of the former Immaculate Conception Church and Holy Trinity Parish.

Stella enjoyed spending time traveling to area casinos with her husband, Tom. She was a wonderful, fun-loving person who loved spending time with family while creating fabulous Italian meals and sharing wine. Stella enjoyed nothing more than preparing feasts for the holidays and special occasions. Her love of family and good food will continue through the generations.

Stella was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, and grandmother. Survivors include her husband, Thomas E. “Tom” Georgalas, whom she married in July 1987; one sister, Grace Gullace of Wellsville; one daughter, Julie Pena and her husband, John, of Fishers, IN; and two sons: Greg Brophey and his wife, Debbie, of East Liverpool, and Kenny Brophey. Also surviving are eight grandchildren including Gina Garvey (Dr. Matthew Garvey), Dr. Greg Brophey (Joey), Lindsay Ray (Alex), Emily Pena, and JP Pena; and two great-grandchildren, Peyton and Taylor Garvey, with a third great-grandchild, Adalyn Rose, on the way.

Friends and family may call from 12:00 – 2:00 PM on Sunday, October 18, 2020, at the Roberts Funeral Home, 631 Main Street in Wellsville. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and to adhere to social distancing guidelines, the number of people in the funeral home at one time will be limited. Also, as mandated by Governor Mike DeWine, face masks are required to be worn while in the funeral home.

A private family service will be held. Burial will be in St. Elizabeth Cemetery.
