John ‘Cowboy’ Glover
WEIRTON — John “Cowboy” Glover, 85, of Weirton, WV, passed away Wednesday, October 14, 2020.
Born in Moundsville, WV, on July 1, 1935, he was the son of the late Stephen and Katie (Roberts) Glover.
He proudly served in the United States Air Force. He was a retired pipefitter for Weirton Steel, and a member of the Weirton Steel 25 year club. He was the owner and operator of Glover Appliance Repair and Glover Rentals. He also was a member of the Weirton Moose. He was an avid fan of Steelers and WVU Football and was a NASCAR fan.
The highlight of Cowboys life was being part of his grandchildren’s sports event. He was a man that never knew a stranger.
He was preceded in death by his three brothers, James, Marvin and Steve Glover and a sister, Phyllis Crummitt.
Surviving are his loving wife, Kathleen Glover of Weirton; a daughter, Rebecca Byers of Weirton; a son, John E. (Theresa) Glover of Weirton; five grandchildren, Ashley, Joshua, Daniel (Stephanie), Helissa and Jamie; eleven grandchildren, Cody, Danielle, Megan, Alex, Abigail, Dustin, Chad Jr., Marcus, Noah, Shawn, and Kameron; also by Susan Glover and Brandy Byers.
Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, Oct 18, at the Nixon Funeral Home, New Cumberland, WV, where funeral services will be held at 11a.m. on Monday, October 19, 2020. Interment will follow in Shadow Lawn Memory Gardens, Newell, WV. Military services will be conducted by the by the American Legion Post 121-VFW Post 6450 Honor Guard.
