Charles ‘Joe’ Baker

CHESTER — Charles “Joe” Baker, 88, of Chester, passed away Thursday, September 24, 2020.

Born December 22, 1931 in Salem, WV, he was the son of the late Ward and Lena (Davis) Baker.

Mr. Baker served in the United States Air Force as a Medic during the Korean War. He was a retried roller in the Tin Mill Dept. at Weirton Steel. He was a member of the Weirton Steel 25 year club. Joe was a member of the Wesleyan Church of Weirton and held membership with the American Legion 121.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine (Davis) Baker; a daughter, Karen Baker; a son, Michael Baker; a granddaughter, Angela Harvey; three sisters, Betty Hayes, Loretta Grimm and Ruby Porter; and five brothers, Warren, Gale, Drexel, Algie and Garland Baker.

Surviving are three daughters, Deborah (Chad) Black, Donna (Bob) Mayhew and Teresa (Joe) Byard all of New Cumberland; five grandchildren, James, Heather (Rob), Mark (Janna), Tracy (Shawn) and Kyle (Ashley); 10 great-grandchildren, Ein, Chance, Joshlynn, Braden, Alex, Collin, Zoe, Cohen, Laikyn and Kohen; two sisters, Barbara Sadd of Florida and Virginia Jackson of Follansbee.

Visitation is from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., on Tuesday, September 29, 2020, at the Nixon Funeral Home, Newell, WV., where funeral services will be held at 11a.m. on Wednesday, September 30,2020.

Burial will follow in Columbiana County Memorial Park, East Liverpool, Ohio. Military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post 121-VFW Post 6450 Honor Guard.
