Michael John Peplowski

AUSTINTOWN – Michael John “Mickey” Peplowski, 78, died Saturday, August 1, 2020 at his residence surrounded by his family. Michael, affectionately known as Mickey was born April 4, 1942 in New Castle, PA, a son of the late Michael and Adeline (Sniezek) Peplowski.

He was a 1959 graduate of Union High School. Mickey was an Electrical Supervisor at First Energy (Penn Power) in Shipping Port, PA, retiring in 1998. Mickey was known for being a Mr. Fix It and enjoyed working on cars, especially his 1933 Plymouth. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, and watching sports – mainly the Pittsburgh Steelers. Mickey was the true patriarch of the family, always sharing life advice and helped, if not doing completely by himself, with all home projects,

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Austintown, Youngstown Rod and Custom, St. George Croatian Club, Calcutta Lions Club, and various VFW organizations.

Mickey proudly served his country in the United States Air Force.

He is survived by his wife, the former Judi Sakely whom he married Sept. 21, 1996; four children, John (Tammie) Peplowski of Liberty, Jim Peplowski of Columbus, Kristin (Jessy) Horkey of Boardman, and Christopher Turner of Youngstown; and seven grandchildren, Ryan, Dylan, and Kelly Peplowski; Austin and Jonah Bacho; and Elizabeth and Sarah Horkey.

Besides his parents, Mickey was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen (Pagach); and his brother, Edwin Peplowski.

There will be a Memorial Mass, Saturday, August 15, 2020 at 12 Noon, St. Joseph Parish, 4545 New Rd., Youngstown, OH 44515, with Father Richard Murphy officiating with full military honors. Friends and family will be received Saturday, from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 Noon. For the safety of the Peplowski family and visitors, please adhere to social distancing, and bring your own mask.

Arrangements are being handled by Stark Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Salem.
