CHESTER — Valerie Heid, 61, of Chester, passed away unexpectedly, Friday, Jan. 10, 2020, at her home.
Born, Sept. 3, 1958, in Sewickley, Pa., she was a daughter of Peter and Susan Dobrowolski of Aliquippa, Pa.
Valerie graduated in 1976 from Center Area Senior High School; she was a medical professional who dedicated her life to serving others. She graduated from the Community College of Beaver County with her nursing degree. Valerie reached the pinnacle of her nursing profession when she graduated to become a Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) from La Roche College and began work at Heritage Valley Beaver. Valerie was currently employed at the Weirton Medical Center and will be greatly missed by her colleagues.
For all her professional success, however, her most fulfilling accomplishment was being a wife, mother, daughter, sister, and aunt. For her, family was everything. She enjoyed attending concerts, listening to music, camping, kayaking and sitting on a beach with a Long Island Iced Tea.
She will be deeply missed by her loving husband, Charlie Heid, whom she married on June 6, 2005; daughters, Sarah Rodgers and her husband Ed of Cleveland, Ohio and Susie Fleming of Beaver, Pa.; sister, Kim Matkoskey and her husband George of Chester; stepdaughter, Tina Kirsch; step-grandson, Collin Hudak. Beloved aunt to Josh Adkins and wife Katie, their children Max and Layla. Erin Hall and husband Rick, their children Maddie and Avery.
Friends may visit with Valerie’s family Thursday, Jan. 16, 2020, at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester, W.Va., from 3-7 p.m. Family requests, in honor of Valerie, wear your favorite concert, vacation, Hawaiian or camp ground t-shirts. It’s 5 o’clock somewhere!
