James L. Monte

WELLSVILLE — James L. Monte, 85, of Wellsville, Ohio passed away at his residence on Thursday, Jan. 23, 2020 following a brief illness.

He was born in Wellsville, Ohio on Feb. 4, 1934 a son to the late Sam and Viola (Buracchio) Monte. Living his entire life in this area, James was a Veteran of the United States Army, worked as a Motor Inspector for Crucible Steel before retiring in 1983 and was a life long member of the 3rd Street Gang in Wellsville, Ohio. Jim was always a champion for the under dog, hence a longtime Cleveland Browns fan.

He is survived at home by his wife Linda (Wicker) Monte whom he married Sept. 9, 1995; a very special daughter in his heart: Ashley Ash and her husband Dave of Negley, Ohio; a brother: Mike Monte and his wife Nancy of Wellsville, Ohio and a sister: Jean Ann Monte of Anaheim, Calif.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by five brothers: Ralph, Steve, John, Paul and Sam and three sisters: Rita, Mary Jo and Virginia.

Services will be held at the MacLean Chapel of the Care Funeral & Cremation Specialists in Wellsville on Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2020 at 6 p.m. with Father Scott Kopp as Celebrant.

Family will be present to receive friends at the MacLean Chapel on Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2020 from 3 p.m. up until the time of the service at 6.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Jame’s name to the favorite charity.
