Hazel V. (Sims) Salsberry

WELLSVILLE — Hazel V. (Sims) Salsberry, 93, of Wellsville passed away following a brief illness at East Liverpool City Hospital on Monday, Jan. 20, 2020.

She was born in Tell City, Ind. on Feb. 12, 1926, the daughter of the late Frank P. Sims and Myrtle (Bassinger) Sims. Hazel moved to the area early in life and attended Toronto High School. She was a homemaker and enjoyed playing cards with her family as well as doing jigsaw puzzles and playing bingo. She was also a lifetime member of Post 5647 Wellsville V.F.W. Auxiliary. Hazel was employed with Crucible Steel during the war and went on to work at WC Bunting Company, and Riverview Greenhouse.

Survivors include a son: James F. Salsberry (Bobbie) of Wellsville, Ohio; a daughter Nancy V. Dunn (Robert) of Calcutta, Ohio; and six grandchildren: Amy Kostival (PR), James Malone (Kelly), Tammie Green (Ken), Linda Dunn, Billie Heiney, and Katherine “Betsy” Brown. Also surviving are several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Hazel was preceded in death by her husband James W. Salsberry, whom she married on Feb. 8, 1946 as well as her granddaughters, Amy Jo Malone-Rosenbaum, and Lonna Martin.

Services will be held at the MacLean Chapel of Care Funeral and Cremation Service at 509 Riverside Ave. in Wellsville on Thursday, Jan. 23, 2020 at 6 p.m. with pastor Dirk Hall officiating.

Family will be present to receive friends on Thursday at the MacLean Chapel from 3-6 p.m. up until the time of services at 6.
