SALEM– Ernest Norton, 83, of Jennings Avenue, Salem died Wednesday evening at Salem Regional Medical Center, Salem Ohio
He was born April 4, 1935 in Marshall, North Carolina, a son of the late Clark and Stella Gosnell Norton.
He lived most of his adult life in the Salineville area. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and worked as a maintenance supervisor at General Motors until his retirement.
He will be missed by his five daughters, Samantha Kaiser of Salem, OH, Frankie Norton-Evans of Morganton. NC, Lola Javens of Hammondsville, OH, Jennifer Shamp of Salem, OH, Barbara Bates of Salem, OH; one son, Ernest Clark Norton Sr. of Orange Park, FL; one brother, Vernon Norton of Spillcorn, NC; one sister, Martha McGhinnis of Lehigh Acres, FL; 19 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Judy Rigsby Norton; two sisters, Anna Mae Robinson and Ernie Metcalf.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday Jan. 12, 2019 at the Kerr-Pastore Funeral Home in Salineville, OH with Pastor Pat Smith of the Salineville United Methodist Church officiating and full military honors being accorded by the American Legion John Adams Post 442 Honor Guard.
Family and friends may call at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the time of service.
Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery.
