Delores (Jean) Dickey

CHESTER, W.Va. — Delores (Jean) Dickey, 86, of Chester, passed away at the Calcutta Health Care Center on Oct. 9, 2018, following a brief illness.

She was born in McGrann, Pa., on April 25, 1932, the second of four daughters to Leona Blake Robinson and Raymond C. Robinson.

Jean worked for the Hancock County Board of Education for 29 years as a secretary at Wells Junior High School and Oak Glen High School.

She was proceeded in death by her first husband, Everett H. Mercer; her second husband, Thomas H. Dickey; and a sister, Carolyn (Sue) Hall.

She is survived by two daughters: Cindy (Mark) Wyand of North Royalton, Ohio, and Terri (Dennis) Welker of East Liverpool; three stepchildren: Thomas W. Dickey and companion Patty of Pittsburgh, Karen Demers and her husband Robert of Virginia Beach, Va., and Janice Shockey and her husband Brian of Salem. There are four grandchildren: Jennifer, Brandon, Ashley and Matthew, as well as two great-grandchildren: Kaitlyn and Madison. She is also survived by two sisters: Evelyn Curry of Columbia, S.C., and Donna (Dave) Smith of Wellsville.

Jean’s family is honoring her wishes that no services be held. Cremation services are being provided by the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester.
