Grand Jury

LISBON — Joseph Bradford, 47, Main Street, Salem, was served Tuesday with a secret indictment issued by the Columbiana County Grand Jury for possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony, for allegedly possessing buprenorphine on Dec. 23, 2023.

LISBON — A Cleveland man accused of selling drugs entered a guilty plea to three counts of trafficking in heroin, a fourth-degree felony.

Devon Jones, also known as Bryon or Byron, 32, who also had an address listed in East Liverpool, will face sentencing on July 28 in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court.

Charges to be dismissed include three counts of trafficking in fentanyl-related compound and three counts of trafficking in drugs. The charges in the indictment involved heroin and fentanyl, both in amounts equal or greater than 1 gram but less than 5 grams, and Xylazine in an amount less than bulk on July 10, 2023, July 14, 2023 and July 25, 2023.

Also in Common Pleas Court:

— Donald Tanner Jones, 33, Allison Park, Pa., pleaded guilty to a lesser offense of attempted importuning (originally third-degree felony compelling prostitution), fifth-degree felony possessing criminal tools and misdemeanor engaging in prostitution for responding to an undercover ad on a known prostitution website of an adult female and a minor juvenile, arranging for sexual conduct with both females in exchange for $160 and arriving in East Palestine on Jan. 15, 2024 for the meeting with the cell phone used to make the arrangements in his possession. Sentencing was set for July 17.

— Samantha Jo Ward, 39, Steubenville Pike Road, Lisbon, pleaded guilty to attempted tampering with evidence, a fourth-degree felony lesser offense (originally third-degree felony tampering with evidence), two counts fifth-degree felony possession of cocaine and misdemeanors of endangering children and operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, a drug of abuse or a combination of them-OVI, with sentencing set for July 10. Charges of resisting arrest, obstructing official business and driving under suspension will be dismissed. During a traffic stop on Aug. 5, 2024 in Lisbon, Ward attempted to carry a small silver box out of her vehicle after being told to leave all items in the vehicle, she then re-entered the vehicle before exiting the vehicle again. While Lisbon police attempted to handcuff her, she threw the box into a grassy area and police found it contained suspected narcotics. She continued trying to enter the vehicle and resisted. The endangering children charge stemmed from three children being in the vehicle while she was allegedly driving under the influence. She was accused of possessing cocaine during that traffic stop and on Nov. 24, 2022.

— Storm Elizabeth McDonald, 21, Akron, was placed under community control for three years for trespassing in a habitation when a person is present or likely to be present, a fourth-degree felony, for breaking into a Wellsville home on July 28, 2024 with other people. She received credit for 27 days served in jail.

— Shane Potts, 35, Avondale Street, East Liverpool, pleaded guilty to theft, a fifth-degree felony, and misdemeanor receiving stolen property for stealing a pinball machine on July 23, 2024 and disposing of collectibles belonging to another person also in July 2024. Sentencing was set for May 22.

— Chloe Gerber, 23, Massillon, must serve 51 days in jail for violating her intervention plan for aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony related to her possession of morphine on July 1, 2022.

— Perry Ross II, 29, West Ninth Street, East Liverpool, was placed on community control for three years for arson registration violation, a fifth-degree felony, for failing to register or re-register for the arson offender registration on Aug. 6, 2024.

— Howard Catheline, 71, Youngstown, was placed under community control for 12 months after pleading guilty to aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony, for possessing oxycodone on July 11, 2024.

— Kenneth Kleinknecht, 52, Lisbon Canfield Road, Leetonia, was placed under community control for 12 months after pleading guilty to aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony, for possessing methamphetamine on April 16, 2024. He was ordered to serve 38 days in jail, with credit for 18 days served, leaving a balance of 20 days still to serve in jail.

— Faith Jones, 21, Akron, was placed on an intervention plan for 18 months after pleading guilty to fourth-degree felony trespass in a habitation when a person is present or likely to be present, for trespassing in a Wellsville home on July 28, 2024.

— Albert Baker, 49, Conneaut Lake, Pa., was ordered to serve 27 days in the county jail for violating his probation for possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony charge dating back to 2013.

— Nashua Jenkins, 27, South Lincoln Avenue, Salem, was ordered to serve 31 days in the county jail for violating his probation for two counts of misdemeanor domestic violence for assaulting a woman on Jan. 20 in Salem, choking her during the altercation.

— Tammy Merriman, 54, Martha Street, East Liverpool, was placed into drug court after pleading guilty to aggravated possession of drugs, a third-degree felony, for possessing methamphetamine in an amount equal or greater than bulk but less than five times bulk on Jan. 16, 2024.

— Seth Portwood, 20, Elton Road, Columbiana, was placed under community control for three years and ordered to serve 14 days in jail for third-degree felony failure to comply with an order or signal of a police officer for a pursuit that started in Salem in the Walmart parking lot, traveled into Leetonia and ended outside Columbiana on state Route 164 at Renkenberger Road on May 24, 2024. His driver’s license was suspended for three years.
