Man gets 12 months for breaking into an East Liverpool apartment

LISBON — A man accused of breaking into an East Liverpool apartment earlier this year was sentenced to 12 months in prison for a lesser offense of third-degree felony burglary.

Homer Linger, 49, West Sixth Street, East Liverpool, appeared recently for sentencing in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court. He was originally charged with a second-degree felony burglary charge. Linger received credit for 107 days already served in jail.

Also in Common Pleas Court:

— Donald Fiore, 58, North Ellsworth Avenue, Salem, was sentenced to 12 months in prison, with credit for 230 days served, for violating his probation for domestic violence, a third-degree felony. His probation was dishonorably terminated. Fiore caused harm to a woman on Feb. 9, 2024 and had five previous convictions for domestic violence on his record.

— Alonna Adkins, 25, Cream Ridge Road, Lisbon, was found competent now and pleaded guilty to a lesser offense of attempted tampering with evidence, a fourth-degree felony, and possession of a fentanyl-related compound, a fifth-degree felony. She was originally charged with a third-degree felony tampering with evidence charge. She was placed under community control for 24 months, with the court noting she was in custody 200 days at Heartland Behavioral Health. She possessed fentanyl and tampered with evidence on Sept. 22, 2022.

— Rachel Hess, 31, Sixth Avenue, East Liverpool, was placed on an intervention plan for three years and ordered to serve up to six months at the Eastern Ohio Correction Center in Lisbon after pleading guilty to aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony, for possessing methamphetamine on Oct. 24, 2024.

— Alayah Thornton, 25, Commerce Street, Wellsville, was sentenced to eight months in prison for fourth-degree felony assault and misdemeanor drug paraphernalia, with credit for 59 days served. Thornton attempted to cause physical harm to an Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper and had drug paraphernalia on Dec. 20, 2024.

— Brian Shaffer, 34, Florida Avenue, Salem, was placed under community control for three years for theft from a person in a protected class, a fifth-degree felony, for stealing $8,600 from an elderly man on Sept. 27, 2023.

— John Powell Jr., 34, Price Street, East Liverpool, was placed under community control for three years and ordered to serve 22 days in the county jail for fifth-degree felony aggravated possession of drugs and misdemeanor possession of drug abuse instruments. Powell possessed methamphetamine and drug abuse instruments on Aug. 5, 2023.

— Adam Wolfe, 48, North Royalton, was placed under community control for three years for aggravated possession of drugs, a third-degree felony, with credit for 13 days served, for possessing methamphetamine on July 7, 2023.

— James Artrup Jr., 36, Norwalk, was sentenced to six months in prison after pleading guilty to aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony. The term is to be served at the same time as the prison sentence for Noble County. He received credit for one day served. Artrup possessed methamphetamine on March 29, 2024.

— James Cunningham Jr., 43, Independence Square, Wellsville, pleaded guilty to nonsupport of dependents, a fourth-degree felony, and was placed under community control for four years. He failed to pay child support from May 1, 2020 to May 31, 2022.

— Ryan Pritt, 43, Lisbon Street, East Liverpool, was sentenced to 12 months in prison for aggravated assault, a fourth-degree felony, vandalism, a fifth-degree felony, and aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony, with credit for 102 days served. A charge of domestic violence was dismissed. He possessed methamphetamine on Sept. 25, 2022 and caused harm to a victim on April 19, 2024.

— Christopher Bowersock, 42, Oak Drive, Wellsville, pleaded guilty to possession of a fentanyl-related compound, a fifth-degree felony, with sentencing set for Aug. 21. He possessed fentanyl on Dec. 29, 2023.

— Stefany Nussbaumer, 34, Youngstown, pleaded guilty to theft from a person in a protected class and telecommunications fraud, both fourth-degree felonies, and misuse of a credit card, a misdemeanor, with sentencing set for May 22. She was accused of devising a scheme to defraud a woman and stealing $1,405, misusing a bank credit card from Oct. 28, 2023 to Nov. 3, 2023.
