Perry Township

— Officers responded to the 600 block of West Pidgeon Road at 11:02 a.m. Saturday for a barking dog complaint. Officers relayed the complaint to the resident who advised they would bring the dog inside.

— Officers on patrol in the area of Egypt Road at 1:32 a.m. Saturday located a tree limb in the roadway blocking the southbound lane of travel. Officers were able to remove the limb.

— Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on North Howard Avenue for driving on the left side of the roadway and failure to signal at 3:55 a.m. Aug. 30. During the stop the driver, Robert E. Dale Jr, 42, Salem, refused to exit the vehicle after multiple commands to do so, and was arrested for obstruction and transported to the Columbiana County Jail. He also received citations for driving on the left side of the roadway and failure to signal.

— Officers spoke to a woman by phone at 5:09 p.m. Aug. 29 for a report of identity theft. The caller advised that her bank and Ohio Eison made her aware of a person who attempted to use her bank account to make two payments to an Ohio Edison account that was not hers. The transactions, one for $25, and one for $296.14 were flagged as fraud. The matter will be under investigation.

— Officers responded to the 1700 block of Harding Avenue at 2:37 p.m. Aug. 29 for a wellness check. The caller advised that they were concerned about their neighbor because they had not seen nor heard from them in a couple hours. Officers were able to contact the resident who advised he was okay.

— Officers spoke to a woman at the police department at 11:05 a.m. Aug. 27 for a report of fraud. The woman advised she’d purchased silver through a broker located in California through a trust and had not yet received her investment. Officers gathered the relevant information.

— Marlene May, 71, Leetonia, was cited for failure to yield after her vehicle on state Route 45 failed to yield while turning onto West State Street causing it to be struck by a vehicle driven southbound on U.S. Route 62 by Michael Judd, 59, Navarre at 9:16 a.m. Aug. 27. May was transported to Saint Elizbeth’s Hospital by EMT for unspecified injuries.

Salem

–Officers responded to the 1200 block of Cleveland Street at 10:23 p.m. Wednesday for a speak with officer report. The caller advised her son was threatened to send money to a person he was speaking with on a dating website. Further investigation showed the matter to be a scam, and the caller was advised to have her son stay off the website.

–Officers responded to the 200 block of West Fourteenth Street at 7:32 p.m. Wednesday for a suspicious person report. The caller advised that two men had walked through her yard and looked at her residence. Officers checked the area and surrounding street, but the individuals were not located.

–Officers responded to the 600 block of East Ninth Street at 7:05 p.m. Wednesday for a report of yelling. Officers located yelling and found it to be a man in a verbal altercation on the phone. The man was advised to cease the yelling.

–Officers responded to the 500 block at 6:40 p.m. Wednesday for a report of illegal dumping. The caller advised that several bags of trash were found on his property. No time frame or person in question was able to be provided to the officer. The caller just wanted a report filed and an extra patrol in the area.

–Officers responded to the area of East State Street and South Lincoln Avenue at 5:29 p.m. Wednesday for a reported vehicle versus pedestrian accident. A vehicle being driven southbound on North Lincoln Avenue by Kaleb Brown, 24, Leetonia proceeded to enter the intersection, and a female juvenile riding a toy electric scooter proceeded into the intersection without stopping for traffic and struck Brown’s vehicle. The juvenile was transported to Akron Children’s Boardman by EMT, and Brown’s vehicle had little to no damage. Two witnesses also stated the juvenile rode right into traffic.

–Officers spoke to a woman at the police department at 4:48 p.m. Wednesday for a report of fraud. The woman advised that $600 was charged from their account which was still pending. Officers advised the caller to contact their bank about the pending charges and to watch for any fraudulent charges or any other accounts. Officers advised a report would be made.

–Officers responded to the 1800 block of Whinnery Road at 3:45 p.m. Wednesday for a wellness check. The caller advised that the woman went home from work last week and hasn’t been back, and they have been unable to contact them by phone. Officers spoke with the woman and advised her to call her work.

–The school resource officer was advised by a student of an unknown person sending them messages on social media, and that they were concerned with the messages and what the person was saying. All information was gathered, and the issue was forwarded to the detective department.

–Officers responded to the area of West Pershing Street near the railroad crossing at 1:41 p.m. Wednesday for a wellness check. Officers locate the individual who was taking a nap while waiting for the next train to come through. The individual confirmed being fine and is often observed in the area watching trains.

–Officers responded to the 2800 block of East State Street at 4:46 p.m. Tuesday for an unknown traffic issue. Officers located the problem in the business parking lot.
